Cisco Anyconnect Network Associating

The following is a contribution to the knowledge base of my current employer.

Issue:

AnyConnect VPN as a client supports different types of tunnel protocols such as IKEv1, IKEv2, L2TP and SSL. Dependant on your requirements, you might go for one over another, however, the most common one nowadays is SSL, it is secure, fast, and more compatible with almost all endpoints including mobile devices comparing to the other protocols since it uses the standard 443/tcp (can also use. The Network Access Manager component of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client supports the following main features: Wired (IEEE 802.3) and wireless (IEEE 802.11) network adapters. Some Mobile Broadband (3G) network adapters with Windows 7 or later. (Requires a WAN adapter that supports Microsoft Mobile Broadband APIs.). With Cisco AnyConnect, all devices a company provides its employees are covered. Be they Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, or even iOS, they can rest assured that business information on any desktop or handheld machine is secured and protected. Unimpeded Access. Cisco AnyConnect affords all-around access to employees to their company’s network.

A user states that after attempting to connect to a wireless network, his connection status is initially “Associating…” and changes to “Limited or no connectivity.”

OR

A user states that her laptop is quickly switching between available wireless networks, but cannot establish an actual connection.

Cause and Prevention:

This issue frequently occurs when users select wireless networks with the basic Windows connection tool instead of Cisco Anyconnect. Advise users that they should ALWAYS use Cisco Anyconnect to select wireless networks.

Resolution:

Ensure that the user entered the proper wireless security key, and that other devices (iPads or personal computers) can connect to the network. If the network is valid, do the following:

I use cisco anyconnect for VPN connection to a cisco vpn router. The client is only allowed to pass the network via a proxy. This proxy is defined in the internet explorer lan settings via a proxy pac. At the anyconnect client I cannot see any feature that allows a proxy for the initial phase of the vpn. Maximize Application and Service Logs and below that you will find an option 'Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client' 4. Right click on the Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client and select clear logs. Select clear after that. Once you are done with this, initiate the anyconnect connection and let the problem occur.

  • In the system tray, right click on the flag icon (“Solve PC issues”) and select “Troubleshoot a problem.”
  • Click “Network and Internet.”
  • Click “Network Adapter” and select next on the prompt that follows.
  • Select “Wireless Network Connection” and click next. Windows should begin automatic troubleshooting.
  • Click close to end troubleshooting and verify that Cisco Anyconnect can connect to a network.

If the issue is not resolved after this, schedule a session with a remote tech to have NIC drivers reinstalled.
